Legionella are commonly occurring bacteria, found in water systems which cause Legionnaires' disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia which can affect anybody. People catch Legionnaires' disease by inhaling small droplets of water suspended in the air, which contain the bacteria. Legionella risk assessments are mandatory for employers with more than 5 employees, even where the system is simply one mains supplied cold tap. COSHH regulations require the risk of operating a water system to be assessed.

Our services vary from client to client, but can include any and all of the following services,

Comprehensive risk assessments

Poor Legionella risk assessment can be worse than no risk assessment, leaving you vulnerable to prosecution. Therefore our risk assessments are thorough and bespoke to ensure that all areas specific to your site are covered. We regularly review our risk assessments to ensure that you are fully compliant with the best practice guidelines in the L8.

On Going Maintenance

The purpose of a risk assessment is to highlight areas of risk. You then have to minimise and manage those risks, and that's where our ongoing monitoring, water testing and analysis come in.

Water Hygiene Services

We offer a range of water hygiene services to ensure that you are fully compliant with the guidance in the L8. For you these may include,

Training

Legionella Control Services provide a wide range of training courses to suit the requirements of you or your staff. These training courses can be carried out in our offices, on site or online, to suit your individual needs.

  • Entry Level - Training for managers on the need for Legionella Control.
  • Intermediate - Training for engineers and professionals on the day to day control of Legionella.
  • Advanced - Training for professionals and responsible people of the legislative consequences of the control of Legionella.

Relevant Legislation

The Health and Safety Commission announced in April 1989 its intention to take statutory action to strengthen existing legislation and guidance on the control of Legionnaire's disease. The Approved Code of Practice and associated HSE guidelines were replaced by the updated document L8 which came into effect on the 8th of January 2001.

Legionella risk assessments are mandatory for employers with more than 5 employees, even where the system is simply one mains supplied cold tap. COSHH regulations require the risk of operating a water system to be assessed.
